Literacy and Lasagna
Storytelling on the Page and in the Kitchen
Literacy and Lasagna is a family-focused section of Larissa Juliano’s author website that combines storytelling, book reviews, and cooking to promote literacy, creativity, and making memories with a book and spatula in hand. All photos, recipes, and comments alongside the recipes are featured by La Petite Chef – Marielle Santoriello Rademacher.
I’m so excited to share something a little different on my author website—a delicious family connection! My beautiful and brilliant sister, Marielle Santoriello—also known as The Petite Chef will have a special section devoted to all her family recipes. Marielle is a passionate and super creative cook (and architect ;)) whose love for food shines through every dish she so thoughtfully puts together. Her blog, The Petite Chef, is a beautiful space where she shares DELICIOUS, easy, flavorful recipes inspired by our Italian and French heritage (ie: Mom and Dad and Grandma), seasonal ingredients, with just a little something…extra – that only my sister can bring.
You can look at her recipes exclusively at:
La Petite Chef
As sisters, we’ve always shared a deep connection through storytelling—mine on the page, hers in the kitchen. Featuring Marielle’s recipes on my author website is a way to celebrate that bond and bring readers a taste of the traditions, memories, and creativity that run through our family.
Our mom ‘whips things together’ all the time (as she says)- and that’s exactly how Marielle cooks and creates. Obviously our Dad kept us well-stocked with fresh veggies and herbs from his garden, so we learned early on that the best meals start with BASIL, good ingredients—and love (and obviously a little family banter). So dive in! We will share fun family stories, a few book reviews and recipe pairings, some book bundles featuring cute cooking ‘stuff’ and tools…and pretty much just have a space where we can share things the Santoriello sisters (as we still call ourselves) love to do.
Whether you’re here for a good story or a great meal, I hope you’ll enjoy these glimpses into our love of literacy and lasagna.

What Our Readers Say About Us
"I read Gracie Lou to my kindergarten classes and they loved it! It is a sweet story that inspires the imagination. My students loved telling me about the lands that they would travel to if they were Gracie Lou! It would be fun to have younger children draw pictures of the lands that THEY imagined after reading this story. The book would also be a great springboard for creative writing for older children and would help students understand how their writing can come alive by incorporating the five senses. Highly recommended!"

"Grace Lou books just have something extra with the sparkle and whisimcal nature of her lands. So perfect for bedtime with a tenderness that we always have in our Gracie Lou stories. I loved how we saw her get bigger over the years and turn her shooting star over to help her baby brother. It is adorable and clever. Larissa’s books have that playfulness that we love with her musical word play and colorful, descriptive but oh so age appropriate language. Think Fancy Nancy meets Ladybug Girl and they want to add a third member. Precious."
